A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS
proudly to say...
i had finished reading this remarkable book,372 pages, by khaled hosseini, the author of kite runner.
another Splendid book by him...
it was a year back when i started reading his first book published "the kite runner"
it's a pleasure to read books that really capture your entire attention and eating up your sleeping time...
it's the first time i read books in such speed...
25 of FEB i started to flip the first page of the book..
and i now done with it TODAY!!!?? i actually took only one week?!OH MY GOD!
so amazing and unbelievable...
when i first bought the book...
i doubt about having to finish the book by this year end...
but...
out of my expectation...
i achieve the most wanted target...
impossible record was made...
i chuckled with joy after finishing it today...
on the other hand...felt extremely emptied...
when currently i do not have a book with me to keep me accompany..
one thing i had not improved by reading...
was to mark down all the good phrases and words...
but i promised to god...
that i will read it once more and jot down all of them..
i was tempted to buy another book by jodi picoult...
not that i don't have the money to purchase it...
but my english teacher bought me another book by catherine lim...
which frankly speaking...i had no interest in it...
and i think i will fall asleep reading it...
the cover was not as attractive as kite runner, a thousand of splendid sun..
in spite of that...i guess i will giv it a try to attempt to this very first story book i gonna to read by singaporean author...other than island voices...
i am gonna to miss jodi picoult's book..so as khaled hosseini..T^T
anyway...i guess you guys wanted to know about the book"A thousand of splendid suns"?
if not..then u can simply shift ur mouse to the right hand corner and exit my blog...
once again...i cried over parts of the book...
it's really heart-throbbing and haunting...
the story on two women...
on how they met in certain circumfances and how they survive through wars..
one is mariam and the other is laila...
both have the most kind-hearted mind and sole...
however the god ill-treated them...
they been through all sort of hardships and obstacles...
mariam in the end sacrified her lifefor laila to flee for her life ...
mariam's wish was to let laila to lead a happier life in paskitan rather than in kabul..
where the taliban started to invade kabul and slaughtering all the people with the law of Islamic..
the women suffered alot in kabul as they had to unreasonably follow the rules and were treated unfairly...
for example:man were allowed to have more than one wife..and when the wife commit crimes stated by the islamic law...they would be beaten up...or even stoned to death...you will not be able to picture and imagine the cruelty of the Talibanese...an sympathy always roused frommy heart whenever i come across the parts where people were tortured and killed by the mercyless war..
it's definitely unfair for the people there...but what to do...they don't have a choice to make..
they were not supposed to flee and run away from the country...
they were leading a miserable live..
with husband whacking the wives everyday...
beating them with belts and shoving a gun into their mouths..
intending to kill his wives in no time...
you will realize how unfavourable and unreasonable and biased the world is..
and how war can be the most vicious weapon on earth...
not only hurting everyone in that place...but also separating families and sacrifying more anguished lives...
do visit the website of khaled hosseini..
happy reading!!!^^
